Each year, the Pacific turns into a refuge for humpback whales, as the Mexican waters offer the ideal conditions for their reproduction and the birth of a new generation of cetaceans.

The migration phenomenon can be contemplated in Puerto Vallarta, one of the best locations for whale watching. The official whale watching season begins in December and ends in March.

These giants give spectators an amazing show: jumps, fluttering, and singing can be seen and heard just a few feet away from the boat, or 200 to 500 meters away from the coastal strip. Sometimes it's visible from your hotel room.

There are several touristic agencies that offer this experience, nevertheless, before you go whale watching, make sure the boat has a federal permit issued by the SEMARNAT, in order to guarantee the respect of the whales' vital space.

The tour prices range from MXN $1000 to MXN $2,500 per person.
