The government of Mexico City has offered some tips such as:

- Under no circumstances should you leave your creature in the car, not even in the shade, nor should you leave it tied down outside your home or in a rooftop.

- Refresh your friend with a bath and make sure that it stays hydrated.

- Leave your pet to rest in a cool, shaded environment.

- Trim its hair, though not too much because it is meant to protect them from sunburns.

- Avoid sudden temperature changes if you have fish or reptiles.

- Take it to the vet if it has vomiting or diarrhea.
