After four years of absence in Mexico, French musician and composer Yann Tiersen will return to present his new album “ EUSA ”, at the Nezahualcóyotl concert hall in the University’s Cultural Centre on July 6.
The pianist will also give performances on July 7 at the San Pedro Auditorium in Monterrey , and on July 8 at the Conjunto de Artes Escénicas (Performing Arts Center) , in Guadalajara . His concert programme will include themes from his ninth album and his first piano solo album.
Through a press release, the composer expressed that the album seeks to create a musical map, a tool for the listener to navigate and experience his or her surroundings. He doesn’t wish to tell the listener what to think of what to feel; instead, “EUSA” is intended to be a guide for whoever listens to it.

Yann Tiersen won international renown for the first time when his first albums were used to create the soundtrack for “ Amélie ,” by Jean Pierre Jeunet . The movie won two BAFTA awards and nominated for five Academy Awards in 2001 . The pianist’s musical compositions have been known to be diverse.
Born in Brest, Brittany in 1970 , Tiersen had a very brief classical musical training before abandoning music schools in Rennes, Nantes, and Boulogne.
In contrast, he grew among the energy and diversity that the Route du Rock (Road of Rock) brought to his town every year. His inclinations for punk and electronic music have given shape to the music he makes. This diversity becomes manifest in his new piano album, “EUSA.”
