For the 15th time, the “Torta” Fair will take place at the main square in the Venustiano Carranza delegation of Mexico City.

A “torta” is a Mexican sandwich that became popular after WWII. It contains meat, avocado, beans, lettuce, tomato, and onions, though recipes may vary in different regions.

At the event inauguration, Mexican chefs will cook the “largest Torta in the World” which will be 230 feet long and will have an estimated weight of 1907 pounds. A public notary will certify the accomplishment.

The delegation deputy, Mónica López Moncada, pointed out that the event was expecting an attendance of 350,000 people this year, who would have the opportunity to enjoy tastings of 100 different types of “torta,” ranging from the classic ham tortas to Mexican sandwiches made of crocodile, ostrich, deer, and ray meat, as well as seafood, vegetarian ingredients, and more.

On this occasion, there will be 10 different states participating, including Jalisco, Veracruz, Tamaulipas, and Oaxaca. Countries like Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, Argentina, and Venezuela will also participate.

The fair will also feature performances by music groups such as Los Askis, Zona Rika, Kalor Latino, Sonora Dinamita, and Los Primos band.
