Massimo Bottura helps impoverished communities in Mexico

Last year, Italian chef Massimo Bottura , the head chef of Osteria Francescana , considered as the best restaurant in the world , announced he would open a community kitchen in Mérida, Yucatán but why Mérida ? because Massimo fell in love with this city years ago, when he vacationed there.

Although the date hasn't been announced, the kitchen is set to open later this year. This will be Bottura 's fifth community kitchen in the world, as he has opened three in Europe and one in Brazil .

Food for Soul,

a non-profit organization , was founded and managed by Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore , his wife.

According to its website, Food for Soul looks to “empower communities to fight food waste through social inclusion.”
