According to a press release issued today by Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Canadian Prime Minister , Justin Trudeau , will hold an official visit to Mexico on October 12 and 13 , following the visit by Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto to Canada in June 2016.

Trudeau's visit underscores the political will of Mexico and Canada to promote dialogue at the highest level aiming to continue collaboration efforts on aspects of the bilateral agenda.

During the visit, the leaders will discuss issues related to competitiveness, entrepreneurship and innovation, trade, regional cooperation and ways to further strengthen Canada-Mexico ties .

Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that in 2016, Canada was Mexico's fourth largest trading partner with a bilateral trade in excess of USD$20 billion .

After the recent earthquakes, the Canadian Government , in addition to transmitting its condolences to the those affected, it demonstrated its solidarity by sending 1,500 tents to support the victims along with a donation of CAD$100,000 and another CAD$100,000 by the Ontario Premier to the Mexican Red Cross ( Cruz Roja Mexicana abbreviated CRM ).

While in Mexico, Justin Trudeau will honor the earthquake victims and participate in events with civil society.
