The U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the U.S. will send 500 ventilators to Mexico for the coronavirus pandemic.
“I just spoke to world leaders today who desperately need ventilators (…) and we're sending 500 to Mexico, then another 500 to France. We're sending some to Spain, we're sending some to Italy,” he asserted on his daily news conference on the situation of COVID-19 in the U.S.
“They're being made by the thousands,” he stressed, criticizing those who questioned his ability to take care of the problem regarding the shortage of ventilators.
He even said the U.S. could expand the list of countries to which it could provide ventilators “I spoke to Pakistan. They want some ventilators, and we’re sending some,” he said.
Some days ago, Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announce that Trump ensured him “that by the end of April we will wahve 1,000 ventilators and we will be able to purchase more because our country has no restrictions to buy from the U.S.”
He also said he posed Trump “the possibility of meeting in June or July to personally show him our gratefulness,” for what he called “a gesture of solidarity” and as a testimony of the USMCA entering into force.
