Morelos State Prosecutor, Jaiver Pérez Durón, cites robbery in direct attack that led to the murder of former tennis player Pablo Morena and his wife on Sunday. However, Pérez Durón says there are currently two lines of investigation underway because of inconsistencies in the story.

Pérez Durón clarified that there were actually three assailants, not two as previously reported on Sunday.

At around noon on Sunday, Pablo Moreno, an international tennis judge, parked his vehicle outside his home in the Del Empleado neighborhood of Cuernavaca, Morelos. His wife and 21-year-old daughter then exited the car and were opening the door to their home when the gunmen shot at the athlete and his family.

Morena died instantly, while both women were rushed to a nearby hospital where hours later his wife was pronounced dead.

Morena's daughter is currently hospitalized and in stable condition, despite having received a gunshot in her thorax.

“The State Attorney General is currently working on finding those responsible in the murder of Pablo Morena and his wife,” said Pérez Durón in a public press statement.

The state prosecutor admitted that public pressure and outrage led him to holding the press statement.
