Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto regretted the loss of more than 70 lives after the magnitude 6.2 earthquake that hit the regions of Arquata, Marche, Accumoli and Amatrice in Italy.
Through his Twitter account, the president expressed his condolences to the government and people of Italy for the tragedy.
"On behalf of Mexico, my heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Italy for the loss of lives after the earthquake that shook this nation," the president wrote.
This morning, the Embassy of Mexico in Italy reported that so far there are not Mexicans among the victims.
According to the Italian Civil Protection, the death toll rose to 73.
