The National Meteorological Service (SMN) is expecting a cold night for Mexico, with fog on the north, northeast, east and central areas of the country.
The authorities also call the population to avoid any prolonged exposure to cold weather and sudden changes in temperature, along with dressing in appropriate clothing and pay special attention to children, the elderly and the sick.
Also, drivers are invited to follow the normal recommendations for low visibility.
According to the National Weather Commission, cold front number 36 will generate low temperatures in most of the country, with gusts of up to 55 miles per hour in the Isthmus and the Gulf of Tehuantepec, and up to 37 mph as well as high waves in the Yucatán Peninsula.
Temperatures well below the freezing point, at around 23 Fahrenheit, are expected in mountainous areas of Chihuahua, Durango and Zacatecas.
The thermometers will also be set at around 32 F in Sonora, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Veracruz, Puebla, Tlaxcala and the State of Mexico, and up to 41 F in Baja California, Querétaro, Mexico City, Morelos, Oaxaca and Chiapas.
