The government of Mexico has a deadline of December 8 to end the government interference in the autonomy of sports federations.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) headed by Thomas Bach sent a first letter to Mexico's Ministry of Public Education (SEP) warning Mexico that if it does not stop meddling with the federations, the country may be punished in the next Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
For some months the sports federations and Mexico's National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), headed by Alfredo Castillo have waged a war of words. The federations want more autonomy while the government agency alleges "chiefdom" in sports and demands accountability in the use of resources.
