Nineteen-year-old Guadalupe Cossío Madrid died this morning after suffering severe burns on nearly all of her body after the explosion caused by a tank truck loaded with 40,000 liters of butane gas.

With her death the number of people killed by the massive flames caused by the explosion rose to two, because the driver of the truck died in the flames in the neighborhood of San Rafael.

Local sources confirmed the death of Itzel in the Traumatology Hospital Lomas Verdes, in Naucalpan, State of Mexico. Twenty-year-old Andrés Ramírez and 61-year-old taxi driver Esteban Adrián Orozco Ramírez are also in that hospital in serious condition.

Itzel's mother, Ana Belén Rodríguez, reported yesterday that her daughter was a widow and the mother of a two-year-old girl. The father of her child died two years ago in the same hospital.

The young woman was on her way to work when the tank truck exploded.

Inhabitants of San Rafael also reported that two young people who were on board a compact vehicle abandoned the car and tried to run away from the explosion, but they were reached by the fire.

The young woman screamed for help while they were burning and the locals helped them to turn off the flames. They were taken to the same hospital in Naucalpan as the other victims.

Governor Eruviel Avila Villegas reported that his administration will support the victims of the explosion.
