The group of six tourists injured in an attack by the police and military forces of Egypt returned to Mexico on board the presidential plane, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Claudia Ruiz Massieu and were immediately transferred by helicopter to the National Institute of rehabilitation to continue with their treatment.
They are the survivors of a bomb attack by the Egyptian security forces, who believed them to be terrorists, while they were visiting the Bahareya oasis, in the western desert area. Other eight Mexicans died in the incident.
Mexico has presented three diplomatic notes to Egypt demanding the clarification of the attack, determining where responsibility lies in the incident and a full reparation for the victims and their relatives.
