Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton rebuked real estate mogul Donald Trump on Monday for his inflammatory comments about immigrants living in America.
Trump accused Mexico last month of sending rapists and criminals to the United States, prompting numerous businesses to cut ties with him, including NBC Universal, Univision, and NASCAR. Clinton has slammed Trump as well as the Republican Party for the comments.
“He’s talking about people you and I know, isn’t he?” Clinton said at an event for the National Council of La Raza, a national Hispanic civil rights advocacy group.
“He’s talking about people who love this country, work hard, and want nothing more than a chance to build a better life for themselves and their children,” she said.
She went on to admonish Trump for failing to apologize for his comments.
“It’s shameful, and no one should stand for it,” Clinton said. “So I have just one word for Mr. Trump: Basta! Enough!”
