The 30th edition of the Miguel Bernal Jiménez Morelia Music Festival (FMM) which will be held on November 9 through 25 , will feature music groups and composers from Germany, Austria, Canada, Colombia, Korea, the United States, France, Israel, Mexico, and the United Kingdom , who will offer a broad selection of folk, classical, contemporary, and jazz music .
The selection process was the responsibility of the FMM’s Artistic Council, formed by Javier Álvarez, Ricardo Gallardo, and Rodrigo Sigal . The University of Guanajuato’s Symphonic Orchestra (OSUG) will star in the opening concert, featuring Colombian harpist Edmar Castañeda as a soloist .
“The artistic council works throughout the year to analyze and revise the latest musical trends so that we may offer a sample of them in Morelia. This year, we are celebrating our 30th anniversary , which is why we will present a very specific series of productions during the festival,” explained Mariol Arias, general director of the FMM .
The festival will feature the Janáček String Quartet, Edmar Castañeda, Andrea Tierra, Gabriel Prokofiev, the American violinist William Harvey, the Canadian string ensemble Collectif9 , and the Buena Vista Social Club ensemble.
The Symphonic Orchestra of Michoacán will present the new composition of the famous composer Miguel Bernal Jiménez, entitled “Noche Mexicana” (Mexican Night) .
