The inhabitants on Tenancingo, Tlaxcala , the small Mexican town that became the center of human trafficking , sexual slavery , and prostitution , planned to lynch U.S. journalists from Fox News , who were investigating sexual trafficking in the area in October 2019 .
In a series of WhatsApp messages obtained by EL UNIVERSAL ’s team of investigative journalism, inhabitants shared the news of their presence: “There are people around the school. They’re like three trucks with cameras. Seriously, we should beat them up.”
In October 2019, journalist Lara Logan and her team traveled to Tenancingo in order to investigate human trafficking in the state of Tlaxcala . Their presence was immediately noticed by the inhabitants, who warn themselves about any event trough a WhatsApp group .
One of them said they should “get them and lynch them .” Moreover, the vehicle where Logan was being driven in was photographed by neighbors in different parts of the sex trafficking hub but what alarmed them the most was that the vehicles were outside the junior high school.
According to Logan , the Tenancingo police told her and her team to leave as they could be lynched . Local authorities intervened and escorted them out of the town. Nevertheless, the inhabitants continued to discuss the incident and followed the U.S. journalists , who they said were “ terrorists ” or “ kidnappers .”
In September 2019 , around 300 Tenancingo inhabitants lynched a woman and a man, after accusing them of being kidnappers or human traffickers .
