For the second time, Jonathan Sánchez Pérez has been selected by NASA to participate at the Air and Space International Program representing Mexico .

The student from the Auronautical Engineering Department at the Metropolitan Polytechnic University of Hidalgo (UPMH) was chosen for his innovative project, which proposes improvements for a satellite orbiting Jupiter , as well as power generation for a colony through electrolysis.

The program, organized by NASA, will take place from October 20 to November 4 , seeking to encourage teamwork between students and expert engineers at the space agency in order to adapt and solve unforeseen problems during space missions.

During the previous edition of the program, Jonathan participated alongside 45 students from different countries and obtained the second place. Now, he is working in the development of drones to improve his home municipality’s security measures.

The student was born in Tultepec , in the State of Mexico . He recently revealed that he was also selected to take a 30-day course at the Moscow State University on August 20 .

In Russia, he will carry out professional training activities at the Moscow Aviation Institute and the Bauman institute , aiming to study a postgraduate degree on aerospace technologies within the Russian territory.

Only 20 years old , Jonathan has a long list of accomplishments: He participated in the Robotics Competition at the Polytechnic University of the State of Mexico , where he also obtained the first place at the 13th State Physics Olympiad of Hidalgo , he obtained the 4th place at the Young Business Talents event , hosted by Praxis and Nivea . He also participated in the Math and IT Olympiad at the UPMH .
