Due to the drought that has been registered in the country in the last days and that has affected the flows that supply the dams that make up the Cutzamala System , Mexico City and the State of Mexico will have a reduction of approximately 86.4 million liters per day each.

The general director of the National Water Commission (Conagua) , Blanca Jiménez Cisneros , informed that according to the drought monitor, during the first half of August, more than 30% of the national territory faced conditions of moderate to exceptional drought, a situation worse than the one faced on July .

“In some regions of the country they face conditions of extreme drought ; the most affected zones are the ones of the Coatzacoalcos River , Pánuco ; in addition, the risk of fires increased in six municipalities of Oaxaca and Veracruz due to the loss of crops and grasses,” she said.

In the case of the Cutzamala river , it also faces a problem, for the basin that supplies it has registered a reduction due to the drought.

Hence, the federal government will implement preventive measures to mitigate droughts, which includes the government of Mexico City and the State of Mexico, so there will be a reduction of 1 cubic meter per second in each entity .
