The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus
will arrive in Mexico to perform the Swan Lake ballet , one of the best known and admired ballet pieces around the world.
"Mexico is waiting for the Belarusian ballet dancers with Swan Lake. [...] It will be the second tour to this beautiful country for our theatre. And we have no doubt that the audience will warmly welcome our ballet again," wrote the company on their official site.
The company will perform in Cancún , Mérida , Villahermosa , Veracruz , Guadalajara , Querétaro , Morelia , and Mexico City —in Teatro Parque Interlomas on February 15 and 16 and in Centro Cultural Teatro I on February 17 and 18 —from February 6 to March 25 .
Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet
was premiered on March 4, 1877, at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow , choreographed by Julius Reisinger , yet the ballet gained success on January 15, 1895, choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov in the Mariinsky Theater of Saint Petersburg .
Founded in 1933 , the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus is a symbol of Belarusian art and a center of national culture.
"The company has assembled more than 80 opera, ballet and theater productions by Russian and European authors. On this occasion, we bring to Mexico Tchaikovsky's classic 'Swan Lake', with a modern version and a unique choreography by Yury Trayan ," disclosed Emilia Kovac, the company's representative in Mexico.
Often regarded as the epitome of classical ballets, "Swan Lake" is a story of love, betrayal, and triumph of good over evil, enchanting the public for more than a century.
