Mexico is becoming one of the most popular destinations in the world. In recent years, foreign tourists have discovered Mexico's hidden gems, as well as its cultural and gastronomic richness.

Therefore, it is not surprising that three Mexican cities are among the 5 Top Cities of the World, according to Travel + Leisure.

According to tourists, out of the Top 15 Cities of the World, three of them are in Mexico: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico City, and Oaxaca.

Oaxaca was named the 5th best city in the world. The magazine explains that Oaxaca “gets raves for its sublime food scene, as well as its cooking schools."

Mexico City is becoming increasingly popular among tourists, as it “leaped up our chart — last year’s No. 11 is now No. 4. Readers say it is “one of the most exciting cities in North America,” and that they “go at least once per year, and every time I do it’s a new and exciting experience.”

San Miguel de Allende landed #2. Travel + Leisure readers “can’t get enough of Mexico. San Miguel de Allende, which topped our list for the past two years, may have been unseated this time around — it now comes in second — but it still draws gushing admiration.”

Every year, Travel + Leisure asks its readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe and share their opinions on the top cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Readers rated cities on their sights and landmarks, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping, and overall value.
