Mexican filmmaker Michel Franco will be part of the jury – together with other 8 public figures of the film industry – for the 74 edition of the Venice International Film Festival, which will take place between August 30 and September 9, according to the organizers.

American actress Annette Bening will be the president of the jury, as the organizers had previously informed.

Franco, who was born in 1979, is a scriptwriter and producer, and has directed five feature films, four of which have been screened at the Cannes Festival.

His latest film “Las hijas de Abril” (“April's Daughter”) won the Jury Prize in the section “Un Certain Regard” (A certain look), while “Chronic: El último paciente” (“Chronic”) won Best Screenplay at the Cannes Festival in 2015.

The rest of the jury members will be the Hungarian filmmaker Ildikó Enyedi, whose "Teströl és lélekröl" ("On Body and Soul") won the Golden Bear for Best Film of the Berlinale in its latest edition.

British actress Rebecca Hall – who has worked with Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg and Woody Allen – and French actress Anna Mouglalis, considered one of the faces of French cinema – who has worked with Arnaud Desplechin, Mario Martone and Philippe Garrel, among others – will also be part of the jury.

Another member is Italian actress Jasmine Trinca, who won the Best Actress award in the section “Un Certain Regard” in the latest edition of the Cannes Festival, for her role in “Fortunata”.

The rest of the members are the Australian film critic David Stratton, British filmmaker Edgar Wright and producer and Taiwan-born filmmaker Yonfan.

On the final round of the event, the jury will decide which of the feature films will take home the Golden Lion for Best Film, the Silver Lion for Best Director, and the Special Jury Prize and two Volpi cups for Best Actor and Best Actress.
