The Folkloric Ballet of the State of Mexico delighted citizens of Moscow with the presentation of traditional dances from various regions of Mexico.

The event, organized by the Mexican embassy in Moscow , gathered in the dancing venue of the Ostankino Park plenty of spectators, among them curious people and lovers of Mexican culture.

"This year, the Folkloric Ballet of the State of Mexico turns 30 years since I founded and direct it,” said to the new agency EFE, María Dolores Olivier de Menchaca , director of the ensemble.

The Ballet has many awards from Mexican authorities, this year it received the State of Mexico Award for its successful trajectory as one of the most important groups of its kind, which has contributed to the formation of generations of dancers and local cultural diffusion .

“The most important thing is to pass Mexican traditions so that other people get to know our country, our culture, our dance, our food, our way of being ,” explained Olivier de Menchaca.

Knowing Mexico through its folkloric dance “is very easy and readily assimilated,” she added.

The Folkloric Ballet is comprised of 120 persons from the different municipalities of the State of Mexico in order to reflect the diversity of the people who inhabits that region.

“We have young people and adults, from 14 to 45 years old, ” said the director of the group which arrived in Moscow after they performed in the Festival of Ethnic Cultures in Bashkiria .

“The Russian public is warm and nice, we feel rather proud of their liking of Mexican folklore,” she concluded and added that they will visit Russia and perform once more in 2020 .
