The Mexican ambassador to the United States says the two countries have always been stronger, safer and more successful when they work together - despite facing challenges and change.

Ambassador Carlos Sada made the comments to a room of immigrant rights leaders Monday afternoon.

During his address to the National Immigration Integration Conference, Sada did not mention President-elect Donald Trump, who has promised to build a wall on the Mexican border.

Sada said the world is changing and facing unprecedented challenges, but those also bring opportunities to promote solidarity.

The conference was planned before Trump's victory. Leaders have changed the agenda since.
