Officials of the Mexican Armed Forces and National Forestry Commission battle a forest fire in the Dzilam de Bravo Biosphere, located in the eastern region of Yucatán.
According to initial reports, the fire has destroyed 150 hectares of vegetation and mangroves so far.
Efforts to put out the blaze have been complicated by the fact that the only point of entry to the area is on the coast. As a result, the Mexican Navy is providing assistance in the form of ships and aircrafts.
The Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) has sent soldiers from the 11th Infantry Regiment and the 7th Military Engineering Regiment to provide aid in the effort.
Aircraft has also been mobilized to combat the fire and launch a survey of the area currently affected.
