Dallas Museum of Art names Mexican as new director

Agustín Arteaga, a veteran museum administrator, curator and current director of the Museo Nacional de Arte (Munal) in Mexico City was named as new director of the Dallas Museum of Art.

Arteaga will start his new job on September 1.

Arteaga said he accepted the job, his first in the continental United States, because he welcomes the opportunity to lead "one of the major institutions" in the country. "It's not only a great honor," he said, "but a fantastic challenge."
