The next major state to vote in the presidential nominating contest, Arizona, offers a model for how Donald Trump might win the White House.
Arizona votes Tuesday. It has a growing Latino population but has been dominated by Republicans for decades. That's because the GOP has increasingly won over white voters to counter growth in the Democratic-leaning Latino electorate.
Trump will have to do something similar should he become the GOP nominee and hope to win in November. The electorate in the U.S. is increasingly diverse, which would make it challenging for him. But Arizona Republicans, particularly controversial Sheriff Joe Arpaio, show how a conservative populism can gain votes.
Arpaio has endorsed Trump.
