Mexican actress Kate del Castillo gave an interview about her controversial relation with drug kingpin Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán and chose to do so for American TV network ABC.
The interview with ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer will be presented Friday at 10:00 p.m. in a special edition of current affairs program "20/20," but the networks presented a few segments this morning.
In the clips, Del Castillo talked about "El Chapo" and American actor Sean Penn, and their meeting in a secluded area of the mountains in Mexico three months before the arrest of the reputed criminal on January 8.
Del Castillo, a self-described motorcycle and race car enthusiast who plays female drug lord Teresa Mendoza in the soap opera “La Reina del Sur,” told Sawyer that she's addicted to risk.
Also, when pointed out that maybe Guzmán was romantically interested in her, she said that it could not be.
“I don't think it was necessarily me, Kate del Castillo, he probably had a crush on Teresa Mendoza,” she said. But Sawyer insisted and she finally admitted that it could have been that way.
“It think he's maybe an admirer. I don't know. Okay, maybe yes,” she said.
Del Castillo also said that she feels aggravated for the actions of Penn, who presented himself as helping her to make a film about Guzmán, but in the end was just interested in the interview he published in Rolling Stone magazine.
“I'm angry at myself because I believe in people and I didn't know Sean Penn,” she said.
