Bus crash leaves 12 dead in Durango

Twelve people were killed after a tourist bus carrying 40 passengers plunged 45 meters off of a cliff in the northern state of Durango, authorities said early on Sunday.

The accident occurred on Saturday in the municipality of Mapimí, according to the Twitter account of the local emergency services, which added that the injured were taken to hospitals located at the region known as “Comarca Lagunera”.

President Enrique Peña Nieto expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
