Pope Francis meets with families in Chiapas

Pope Francis is holding a meeting with families in the Victor Manuel Reyna stadium that is full with the faithful.

Hundreds of parishioners waited for his arrival in a helicopter while Christian music fills the stadium.

Catholics from Mexico and Central America are enduring the harsh sunlight, looking for the few available shades of using whatever they can in order to cover their heads.

The stadium was opened starting 8:00 a.m., and some people are beginning to show signs of the toll taken under the long wait to see the pope: The civil protection authorities are already taking care of scores of dizzy and unconscious people.

Prior to his arrival, the pontiff officiated a mass in San Cristóbal de Las Casas and had lunch in the Episcopal Curia with indigenous representatives.

After the private meeting, Francis went to the Cathedral of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, where he spent a moment before the tomb of Bishop Samuel Ruiz García.
