Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto met the Prime Minister of Quebec, Philippe Couillard, who told him that institutional fund manager Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec will US$2.1 billion in infrastructure projects in Mexico, in association with local retirement fund managers for the next five years.
Both leaders had a dialog about the bilateral relation between Mexico and Canada, and especially with that province, in the context of the strengthening of the competitiveness in North-America.
Couillard spoke with Peña Nieto about the hydroelectric experience of Quebec, in which the Canadian province happens to be the fourth place in the world, and showed his interest to share this experience with the Federal Electricity Central of Mexico.
During the meeting, they also spoke about cooperation opportunities in commerce, economy, culture, education, investigation and innovation, as well as climate change and environmental protection, and the structural reforms in Mexico and its National Infrastructure and Energy Program.
The Prime Minister is leading a group of 70 businessmen.
