Marines working with the Joint Operation Headquarters operated by the Ministry of the Navy, the Mexican Army and the Federal Police along the government of the State of Mexico, were ambushed in the town of Salitre Palmarillos, in the municipality of Amatepec. The ambush left a Marine killed and two wounded. Police sources said that they were attacked from the roof of a building besides the central esplanade of the town and a vehicle parked nearby, taking them by surprise. This is the second incident in the southern area of the state in less than two months. Amatepec is a municipality of the so-called Tierra Caliente, formed by areas in the State of Mexico and the state of Guerrero. In a press release, the Navy expressed that the attack was done by members of organized crime. "Regrettably, during their arrival, one member of the Infantry of Marine was killed due to the gravity of the wounds caused by the perpetrators. Also, the other two wounded are currently under specialized medical attention," expressed the report.
