Christian Martinoli said that he will not present charges against Mexican coach Miguel Herrera after the face-off they had in the Philadelphia Airport.
Martinoli spoke about the incident to Mexican and international media, expressing that "Miguel Herrera saw me and threw a punch at me, hitting me in the neck. He tried to hit me again, but Luis García got between us and tried to calm him."
Martinolí said that Herrera warned him that every time they met he would punch him again.
He also said that Herrera lied when he said that he just pushed him.
"I had no idea that besides being vulgar, he is also a coward. I never attacked his daughter," expressed the TV Azteca sports commentator.
The exact reason for the confrontation is unknown.
David Medrano, another sports commentator for TV Azteca, said on a radio interview with Radio Fórmula that Herrera's daughter, Mishelle, slapped Luis García when he intervened to try to calm everyone down.
On Twitter Fernando Schwartz, who works for Fox Sports, said that Herrera attacked Martinoli because he offended his daughter and not because he has been critical of his performance.
So far Mexico's Soccer Federation has not talked about the incident.
