The shadows of populism and demagogy are threatening the world with regression, expressed Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.
During an encounter with members of the ruling Revolutionary Institutional Party (PRI) in its headquarters, the President expressed that the consequences of populist policies are pretty clear in nations which presented themselves as democracies and no longer do so.
"History has taught us that the populist, demagogic and irresponsible views destroy in a few days what took decades to build. Mexico must be aware of that," expressed Peña Nieto.
"This is the moment to have the PRI bringing its organizations and structure up-to-date, in order to have new dynamics," he said.
Accompanied by governors, deputies and senators, both seating and elect, Peña Nieto expressed that even if some politicians are looking into the 2018 elections, the PRI has no room for personal projects because a national project is needed.
"If there is something which defines the PRI is responsibility and seriousness," he said.
"The PRI has the obligation and the chance to bring value and prestige to politics. The authorities emanated from PRI must be examples of integrity," he pointed out.
