Salma Hayek could play the role of Mata Hari, a famous exotic dancer executed in 1917 after being accused of spying against Germany.

The English film director and producer Sophie Fiennes talked with the Mexican actress about the project on which she has been working.

 

"Many of the men who enjoyed her company turned against him, but there is evidence that she was unfairly labeled as a traitor," the filmmaker said regarding misconceptions about Mata Hari.

The information emerged during the last Cannes Film Festival.
