Sota still in Meade's campaign

Details aside, our sources say Alejandra Sota is still in the campaign of the candidate of the “All for Mexico” coalition, José Antonio Meade. In this space, we previously told you that the communication and image strategists hadn't been seen in the war room of the candidate of the center-right Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). And most certainly, Mrs. Alejandra was absent to some meetings for personal reasons – a problem with her vertebras – but nothing that would keep her permanently away from her tasks at Mr. Pepe's side. We're told that this Monday, Sota accompanied the presidential candidate to a private event with members of the Executive Board of Global Companies, the CEEG. In a nutshell, our sources say Sota hasn't left the campaign at a war room which has seen some considerable rearrangements and shifts. Oh, and she's also wearing a red jacket starting this week.

MORENA does the math

The left National Regeneration Party (MORENA) at the Permanent Commission of the Congress, which has one deputy and three senators off the record, is seeking the integration of a commission to follow up on the 2018 General Election. Why the interest? We're told that the MORENA members are happily doing the math with the results of governors, federal deputies and senators – not counting the fact that their presidential candidate, Andrés Manuel López Obrador is on top of the polls. But since they don't have a foothold in the Legislative Branch, according to our sources, their plan won't have the impact desired and thus their call to provide some follow-up to the contest. And as such, this commission, typically established during elections, will seem to bear witness of the events taking place after election day, say our sources.

Azcárraga's father-in-law backs AMLO

This Tuesday, businessman Marcos Fastlicht Sackler showed his support for the presidential candidate of the left National Regeneration Party (MORENA), Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with whom he attended the event Dialogue for Peace and Justice, at the Museum of Remembrance and Tolerance. The father-in-law of the chairman of Televisa, Emilio Azcárraga Jean, was in the front row listening to the proposals of Mr. Andrés Manuel regarding security. We're told that Obrador is beginning to show his reinforcements, like Alejandro Gertz Manero, who was also present at the forum with the families of violence victims.

The reinforcements of Anaya

The main advisor of the presidential candidate of the coalition “For Mexico to the Front”, Ricardo Anaya, regarding education and sciences is Senator Juan Carlos Romero Hicks. We're told that despite he also sought the presidential candidacy, he has now become one of his closest collaborators, with the experience of someone who has worked in the matter of quality in education. The same can be said of former presidential candidate Josefina Vázquez Mota, who has been recently spotted close to Anaya. The presence of Ms. Josefina is silencing the rumors that the members of the conservative National Action Party (PAN) were distant. Her presence has provided, mainly, opportunities to meet with the private sectors and with organizations linked to education.
