( Petróleos Mexicanos abbreviated Pemex ) will continue with a staff cut of 5,117 workers in 2018 , involving 101 high-level positions including directors, managers, and submanagers, and 5,016 other workers .
With the reduction, 26,158 workers have left the company since 2014 and Pemex is planning to operate with 111,484 workers in 2018 . For this year, the goal is to operate with 116,601 workers.
From 2013 to 2015, the highest reduction was in exploration and production activities in which 7,116 workers left the company, followed by the subsidiaries Pemex-Refining ( Pemex Refinación ) with a staff reduction of 4,922 workers, from Pemex Petrochemicals ( Pemex Petroquímica ) 2,875 workers, from Pemex Basic Petrochemical and Gas ( PEMEX Gas y Petroquímica Básica ) 1,364 workers and from Pemex Executive Tower ( Pemex Torre Ejecutiva ) there was a reduction of only 106 workers.
Despite the reduction in staff, Pemex plans to spend on personal services (in cash flow), including salaries and wages, MXN$ 93,228 million , MXN$ 3,415 million more than 2016, when the allocated expenditure was set at MXN$ 89,812.9 million .
