The Cosplay Team, Banana Cospboys, formed by Luis Gamboa and Eduardo Peralta, won the first place in the World Cosplay Summit 2018, an international cosplay competition.

The Mexicans, from Cancún, won the contest with a presentation based on Street Fighter II, the video game, in Nagoya, Japan, on August 5.

Their routine was full of creativity and acrobatics. They acted out two fight rounds between Chun-Li, a Kung Fu student, and Dhalsim.

The second and third place were obtained by the Indonesia and Thailand team, respectively.

Through social media, the young men shared their feelings during the contest and thanked everyone who has sent them positive and supportive messages.

They said they had never imagined they could represent Mexico in this kind of contest, that's why they're very proud to do it.

Also, the Mexican team was congratulated through social media by the Japanese embassy in Mexico.

This is not the first time Mexico has been crowned as the World Cosplay Summit champion. In 2015, Juan Carlos and José María Arroyo, members of the Twin Cosplay team won the first place with a presentation based on the game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

The World Cosplay Summit began in 2003, as a way to create a sense of international friendship among cosplayers all over the world.
