Linio, an e-commerce website, carried out a study to calculate the average price in 11 technology categories in Latin America. The analysis focuses on key products and countries where buying technology is a growing trend in e-commerce.

In Mexico, according to the AMVO, 54% of online buyers have bought gadgets and appliances, which shows a constant increase in people's interest in buying gadgets online.

The research shows that the two most expensive technology categories are Mac and Windows computers. Other categories included in the analysis are smartphones, USD $1,031; video games USD $483; and drones, USD $426.

Mexico is the cheapest country to buy a Mac computer, with an average price of USD $1,720, USD $516 less than in Ecuador, the most expensive country.

If a Mexican buys a gadget from each category on the average price, they would spend a total of USD $5,793.

The 2018 Technology Price Index includes 404 products, divided into 6 categories that were browsed in 632 e-commerce websites in six Latin-American countries, and five other regions. The study calculated the average price of every item in every country, to compare it with other regions and internationally. Taxes and additional costs, except shipping rates, were counted in, and the products were chosen according to their popularity in sales and searches inside Linio.

The costs of every item were reviewed in at least three online stores. The regional average price was calculated according to the average price in every country. The exchange rates were taken from Bloomberg Markets from June 4 to June 29, 2018.
