On Friday, October 5, the Legends Tramway of Mexico City will start night tours for tourists to get acquainted with the history of “La Llorona” (The Weeping Woman), the most iconic and terrifying ghost in Mexico. The tour starts in the city’s Historical Center.

This is the third year that the tour is held, but the show has grown more and more sophisticated; it currently has a two and a half hour duration and it tells three versions of the Weeping Woman legend: One from pre-Hispanic times, another from Colonial times, and one from the Inquisition.

Tourists can get on board the tramway next to the Metropolitan Church, where an actor leads the tour and tells general stories and details about the woman-ghost.

The tour passes through Santo Domingo, El Caballito, and Palacio de los Azulejos (The Palace of Tiles). There are three stops at public squares, where little stages are assembled for the representation of the legend. A total of 15 actors will participate on the project.

This special tour will be held on the weekends from October 5 to 21.

People may board the tramway at 17:00, 18:45, and 20:30 hours. Tickets will be sold at 250 pesos per person. You may consult further details on the tour’s official website here.
