Another Mexican joins the group of tricolors who play soccer in Europe. Edson Álvarez leaves Mexico and soccer team América to become part of the AFC Ajax in the Netherlands.

The canterano from the América Eagles, with whom he won the Liga MX, the Copa MX, and Campeón de Campeones 2019 in the U.S., will leave for the old continent to join the current champion of the Eredivisie.

The Club América said goodbye to Álvarez, thanked him for his contributions and wished him the best through social media.

21-years-old Edson has participated in one soccer World Cup for the Mexican team, and recently won the 2019 Copa Oro in the U.S. with the team of Gerardo Martino.

Some European clubs sought the Mexican, but the Dutch team won the match, that is why Álvarez will join Hirving Lozano and Erick Gutiérrez in the Netherlands.

With this recruitment, Álvarez will be the first Mexican soccer player to join the Amsterdam club.

For his part, Álvarez bid farewell to the team that saw him grow in an emotion-filled video.
