On Wednesday, Mexico’s Foreign Ministry said it will keep its Israeli embassy in Tel Aviv , following the decision of the United States government to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
On Twitter , Mexico’s Foreign Ministry wrote in Spanish "Regarding the decision of the United States government to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Mexico's government announces that its embassy will remain in Tel Aviv."
According to the press release, Mexico will adhere to the 1980 Security Council Resolution 478 and the United Nations General Assembly resolutions on the status of Jerusalem.
In the statement, Mexico reiterates its close and friendly bilateral relationship with Israel.
“Mexico supports dialogue as the means to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian dispute, based on the two-State solution, that is, the right of Israel and Palestine to live in peace within secure and internationally recognized borders, as agreed in the Oslo Accords and ratified by various United Nations Security Council resolutions,” the statement concluded.
