According to a press release issued by U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico , the U.S. Consular Agency in Acapulco was forced to close temporarily due to Hurricane Max .

Tropical storm Max

intensified this morning and has become a category 1 Hurricane , currently, 85 km to the southeast of Acapulco, Guerrero, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h, according to the Mexican National Meteorological Service ( SMN) , and it is expected to make landfall today near Acapulco.

Mexico's Government issued a Hurricane Warning for the southwest coast of Guerrero, from Zihuatanejo to Punta Maldonado .

“Max is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 5–10 inches with maximum totals of 20 inches across portions of the Mexican states of Guerrero and Oaxaca. These rainfall amounts may produce life-threatening flash floods and mudslides ” warned the release.
