In a statement, the Association of Brewers of the Mexican Republic (Asociación de Cerveceros de la República Mexicana abbreviated Acermex) announced that "Frida" the famous rescue dog will have its own beer brand.

All proceeds from its sales will be donated to the building reconstruction of areas affected by Mexico's recent earthquakes, an 8.2-magnitude quake on Thursday, September 7 followed by a 7.1-magnitude quake on Tuesday, September 19.

The non-profit beer "acknowledges each and every volunteer, rescuer and anonymous heroes who have risked their lives," the Acermex said in a statement.

So far the association has already registered the trademark “Frida Marina, cerveza con causa” (“Frida Marina, beer for a cause”) in the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad abbreviated IMPI), to ensure that the new product "remains faithful to its creation ideals and that it will remain non-profit."

Frida is among the 270 trained rescue dogs throughout the Mexico, and she is a member of the Canine Unit of the Mexican Navy. Her assistance has proved vital in the search and rescue efforts in Haiti in 2010, in Guatemala in 2015, in Ecuador in the following year and in Mexico in Oaxaca and Mexico City after the devastating earthquakes that hit the country.
