Foreign tourist attacks Mexican reporter while she films a group vacationing in Puerto Vallarta amid the COVID-19 pandemic

Mexican journalist Doraliz Terrón , who works for media outlet Paralelo Informativo, documented a group of tourists vacationing in Puerto Vallarta amid the COVID-19 pandemic. While the journalist was reporting, she was attacked by a foreign tourist .

The video showed how several businesses and tourists ignored physical distancing and quarantine measures to halt the spread of coronavirus .

The man was drinking beer with others when the journalist started filming them. He got up and verbally attacked her to prevent her from recording the group of tourists.

The Mexican journalist explained beaches are public places, that she was merely doing her job, and that she would report the incident to authorities.

reported the incident to the local police and some officers arrived at the site and asked the tourists to leave and the bar to close, but both ignored the Mexican authorities.

In recent weeks, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the pleas to stay home, Mexican beaches have been crowded with tourists who blatantly ignore physical distancing measures.

Although it is unknown if the man is from the United States or Canada, U.S. ambassador in Mexico Christopher Landau apologized on behalf of the man.
