Beans contain several substances with anti-cancer properties, therefore they can help in the prevention of center types of cancer, including breast cancer.

The main active substance contained in beans, which can help prevent breast cancer, is phytic acid, which also prevents colon cancer.

This is the case according to an article written by doctor José Armando Ulloa, doctor Carmen Ramírez Ramírez, and chemist Blanca Estela Ulloa Rangel, which was published by the Nayarit Autonomous University.

It is believed that this might be the result of its antioxidant effects, as the substances beans contain can block the action of the free radicals in the organism.

The free radicals are responsible for the degenerative processes that contribute to the development of diseases such as cancer but the phytates present in beans can counter their negative effects.

Beans also contain tannins, which can prevent the mutation of the cancerous cells.

Tannins are the substances that provide the bitter taste to foods, they also have antioxidant, anti-cancer, and antimutagens properties.

But that is not all, as they also contain substances that can protect you against cancer such as trypsin inhibitors, which block the natural processes that promote the development of tumors.

Trypsin inhibitors also protect the organism against chemotherapy's side effects.

Besides all these benefits, beans are a great source of iron and protein and they help to lower cholesterol levels.
