Mexican Foreign Ministry announced that the government will closely follow the situation in Indonesia, after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the country on Wednesday.

In a statement, the ministry said that Mexico regrets the catastrophe and sends its solidarity to the Indonesian government and people, as well as the families of the victims.

Since the earthquake, the Mexican Embassy in Indonesia activated the emergency protocols and so far no Mexican citizens have been reported among the victims. 

Nearly 100 people were killed and hundreds injured in Indonesia on Wednesday after the strong earthquake hit its Aceh province.
