Several marines seized on Monday 35 packages of cocaine along the Huatulco, Oaxaca coast.

In a press statement, the Mexican Ministry of the Navy reports personnel of the Eighth Naval Region saw 31 large packages and four smaller ones in the shape of bricks floating along the state's southeast coast.

After seizing and inspecting the packages, the Navy turned the narcotics over to the Public Prosecutor to conduct the corresponding investigation.

According to Mexico's chief prosecutor, nearly 2 tons of cocaine were seized along the coasts of the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero during a similar operation on December 18 and 19.
