Netflix announces offline mode for smartphones and tablets

Nextlix today announced via Twitter that all subscribers will get to download their favorite series and movies onto a smartphone or tablet instead of just stream through the Internet.

“Airplane mode. Road trip mode. Stuck-in-the-subway-for-20-minutes mode. Your favorite stories are now available for download any time.” reads the tweet.

Netflix offline mode is included with all streaming subscription packages. All you need is a device running iOS 8.0 or Android 4.4.2 and up.

The content that can be viewed offline have a download icon, and customers can also browse downloadable shows and movies in the new "Available for Download" section.

“Many favorite streaming series and movies are already available for download, with more on the way.” according to the streaming media company.
