The rain did not stop an excited audience to enjoy the free show Roger Waters gave in front of a psychedelic and conceptual stage, which had the Metropolitan Cathedral as a background, in the heart of Mexico City’s Zócalo, yesterday at night.

“Speak to me”, “Breathe”, “Run like hell”, “Brain damage”, “Eclipse”, “Time” and “Money” were some of the classic themes that could be heard in the concert, while “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2” featured a choir of children and teens who accompanied Waters, as a thrilled Mexican audience raised its mobiles to record the experience.

The concert included messages of protests against the police, violence and the display of a Palestinian flag to which Waters added: “If you are not angry it’s because you’re not paying attention” as ex-Pink Floyd’s frontman hits “Fearless” and “You’ll never walk alone” took the stage.

Waters response to the Republican nominee for the Presidency of the U.S., Donald Trump, had a great echo amongst the public as he said: “Trump you’re and ass...”, in response to Trump’s rhetoric against illegal immigrants.

Waters also displayed the “Quit now” hashtag, which has been recently addressed in social media to Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, and read a letter in Spanish which described his experience with the families of the victims of missing people in Mexico: “Mr. President, more than 28,000 men, women and children have been missing, many of which have disappeared since 2012. Where are they? What happened? […] people are ready for a new beginning, it is time to tear down the wall of privileges that separates the rich from the poor. Your policies have failed, war is not the answer; listen to your people Mr. President, the eyes of the world are watching”.

This emblematic gesture was heavily cheered by the attending public as it was actually taking place a few steps from the Mexican Government Palace.

Waters closed his show with “Comfortably Numb” and raised his arms to the slogan of “Viva México, motherf…..!”
