The global event is designed to raise awareness of road safety for bikes.

Regardless of age and body type, hundreds of naked cyclists took the streets of Mexico city today to protest against car culture and demand more security.

"We are having an environmental crisis, so using a bike is a way to be environmentally-friendly. We want less cars and also raise awareness that the city belongs to all of us," said Rogelio Salas, cyclist.

The event World Naked Bike Ride started in 2004 in Canada and is officially a protest against our dependence on oil and for cyclist safety on the road.

Similar events are taking place in other cities across the world.
